The biggest fear I have about automation in the home, is if anything should happen to me, like long term injury or even worse like death, how does my family take over the home…I mean as a man we Must!! Think about our family needs and that also means what will they do if I’m no longer here, this is the only thing that stops me as I cannot design a system around that possible eventuality…. Any ideas

I love tinkering. Can I use my Google nest devices connected to my home assistant?

  3. @jonhawthorne1489 on December 16, 2024 at 7:36 pm

Do you have a video on a light strip that indicates when it is time to leave? It would fill up over time and be green when it’s time to leave?

  4. @tonycave48 on December 16, 2024 at 7:37 pm

Where’s the light from in the back?

  5. @ZenworldGlobes on December 16, 2024 at 7:39 pm

Please what and what should I buy so I can use my Alexa to control my home, thank you

Nem semmi!! Környezetvédelem címszónál a kínai értemlező kézi szótárban: “Lefordíthatatlan külföldi kifejezés” (irónia)

  9. @MrPoblijon on December 16, 2024 at 7:44 pm

Google Home Assistant has its limitation and flaws. But my smart wiring systtem supports it and with just the cheap Nest hub, I control the entire system by voice, i.e. shutters, lights, recuperation etc. I recently discovered that thanks to Matter GHA can finally work with sensors as automation triggers. So my motion sensors activate whatever I want. And that is a game changer, IMO.

Is it possible to connect Alexa and Phillips Hue without the Phillips Bridge?

  15. @Saturn2888 on December 16, 2024 at 7:50 pm

I’m surprised you didn’t say anything about how slow Alexa’s app is to use. Takes 20 seconds for a checkbox to show up when assigning devices to rooms. That’s "simple" but not easy :p

  19. @nicholassimmons9227 on December 16, 2024 at 7:58 pm

Hey Reed, Love your videos. I have a question. I’m having trouble viewing my live feed from a Eufy camera on the Google Home app on iOS. I can pair it together but can’t see the feed from it. Thanks

What are the best invisible window door sensors

  21. @101RealTalker on December 16, 2024 at 7:59 pm

Hello I’m curious, I am trying to set up a handful of cameras inside my one bedroom apartment, running an experiment, I do not want Wireless, I want everything fully analog tethered to motion sensors, I want the feed to go to one hard drive that I can just access the footage by plugging in that hard drive to my laptop and watch it through VLC player, I want no other bells and whistles outside of the obvious audio, Does anyone have any recommendations for a possible bulk purchase to achieve this? I’m imagining it would be a total of about five cameras only, but again I want them completely in sync at all times with zero Wi-Fi or Bluetooth nonsense, no interface outside of saving the footage to a hard drive then I will then use my laptop as a screen too pick and choose what I view, doable?

This is a brilliant intro vid. I have just subscribed. I am about to self build my house, what power should I put into the walls for things like automatic blinds like the ones in your vid? Thanks.

  23. @mind.journey on December 16, 2024 at 8:03 pm

Too early in the tech cycle. I’ll come back in 10 years when it’s as easy as installing a light bulb

  24. @K1LLA_KING_KONG on December 16, 2024 at 8:06 pm

Have done or can you please do a video on setting up a ‘new build’ house as apposed to setting up an existing home.

I would like to consider wiring & networking in the construction process

  25. @beatsandmel0dy on December 16, 2024 at 8:07 pm

What is the app/device your using to control everything in the video?

  26. @martinluke1589 on December 16, 2024 at 8:07 pm

Which app do you use for automation

  27. @anpc86 on December 16, 2024 at 8:08 pm

Would you still go with the water leak sensors from aeotec?
Im wanting to start my smart home with this aspect but having hard time figuring out what works or still in business, ideally compatible water valve shutoff

  28. @ArieHans-5 on December 16, 2024 at 8:12 pm

Of all the things I got this year when it comes to everyday tech, it was undoubtedly my vionentus wallet, the airtag slot and the details often make me feel like I’m in Blade Runner.

  29. @bmwchefbmw on December 16, 2024 at 8:12 pm

I have 5 split minis in bedrooms, and two main AC units in living spaces. I want to have all on a schedule to run when my solar has the batteries full and I still have sun left in the day! Some of these rooms are empty, but I want to rotate the AC on to keep the air moving and the room dry and not musty in the tropical environment. I’m so confused with all the Verbiage of smart home things! Do I just need a "sensibo" for each split mini? and do you recommend I hook them into a HA? or do I really need a HA? I would love a diagram of a simple system.

  30. @coolbart66 on December 16, 2024 at 8:14 pm

Which LED light strips do you use?

  31. @menchetta5914 on December 16, 2024 at 8:15 pm

Great video. Where can I find Light switch presence Sensor(not motion Sensor) or Presence Sensor with battery?

  32. @bjørnjacobsengaming on December 16, 2024 at 8:16 pm

"It’s hard and clumsy to remember what to say." Okay, it’s really hard and clumsy to remember to say "hey Google, turn on the light". 😱😂😂

Step 0 is probably the hardest one of them all. The step I’m talking about is actually getting a house whether it be in the US in Europe or in Asia.

  37. @bertrandmauge9832 on December 16, 2024 at 8:23 pm

Bonjour, I wonder if you could show and explain, how did you connect your withings bed sensor to HA ? I’m not interested in the medical stuff but just the presence. Tks.

  39. @vikanchJames on December 16, 2024 at 8:26 pm

how many times was the word "Automation" used in this video. Answer = Yes

  40. @bjørnjacobsengaming on December 16, 2024 at 8:27 pm

2:19 Motion sensors are triggered by pets, and then you have the joy of your light or whatever you think is smart to connect to them, turning on and off constantly. What’s so smart about it?

  41. @garlik88 on December 16, 2024 at 8:27 pm

your voice and mouth are out of sync, slightly annoying

  42. @ahmedmk534 on December 16, 2024 at 8:27 pm

Smart home ⁉️ what 💩‼️ For decades without electronic appliances, that lasted at least 20 years ‼️ If you were cold you walked to the house thermostat and turned up the heat ‼️ freaking people are so lazy today ‼️
And the electric car, you can put where the sun don’t shine. And sun , solar panels are 💩‼️ There’s other options that are much better ‼️ If corporate and government are telling you that it’s ok , IT’S NOT ‼️ BTW ‘ they’ are telling you that your garden is not healthy for the planet ‼️ If you believe in any of these lies , I have a bridge that has a lot of traffic going over it for sale ‼️ I will take gold and silver and I will pick the place you can purchase it ‼️😂🤣
