I see ppl putting speakers high up on the wall, on the right and left front channels, does go plugged into the same channels of front right and left? an addition to the floor standing right and left?

I had some busted DJ speakers i integrated to my home theater system. They were powered speakers and the amp on them was shot so i turned them into passive speakers by removing the amps ,installing a bass/treble crossover and plugging them in the AV receiver i got from FB marketplace. They gained new life. Definitely glad i didn’t get rid of them when i bought new dj speakers.

moving into a one bedroom apartment and want to enhance my tv audio in my living room, want to spend no more than around 300, should I go soundbar or surround sound system?

  4. @StuffandThings1 on December 16, 2024 at 7:36 pm

I bought a used receiver from ebay and found all my speakers at the thrift store I spent around $400 for everything.

I’ve been watching this channel for 6 or 7 years now since I started learning about 4k projectors and I just love it, I feel like you don’t really farm a ton of videos to make more money (which is ok anyway we all need money) you just do the ones that you really like and for stuff you care about. I can appreciate that.

I just wish 4k projects came further than they have, seems like they’ve been pretty stagnant for the last 6 years unless you got tons to drop on a laser projector which don’t seem that much different either.

Anyway, any upcoming videos or things you’re gonna branch into? maybe figuring out which popcorn reallyyyyyyy tastes like movie popcorn? lol

Very nice and all but, can you please give me advice on just a projector with screen for a 3 year old’s room. That I’m trying for her to learn her Spanish. And just for watching movies cartoons. Any help? Plus please it’s just on a disability check that I’ll be buying. So the less the better. And do you have anyone also that can come and install? And yes I’ll pay also. Ty

Hi Chris – I am considering a UST projector for a dedicated black room in the basement.

Can you please recommend a UST under $2500?

Have my Dads old speaker and receiver he used in the 90s and it’s the best thing. Genuinely sounds more like a theatre than a lot of high priced sets i’ve heard.

  12. @coffeegod2236 on December 16, 2024 at 7:46 pm

Chris m8 thx you very much, i was uneducated on the subject of home theater and audio in general, your videos gave me better understanding of what exactly i was looking for plus general knowledge about audio.

Thx to you i found someone who is selling exactly what i need if not better for a really good price.🙏

Awesome video once again. I agree with the 2nd hand stuff. I started with a reciever for just €80 and it still powers my Klipsch system. Started with bookshelfs for 2.0. Added a 12" sub and after a time bought a center speaker. Then came the towers and the bookshelfs went to the rear. Now it’s an awesome system!

A little tip: sometimes stores have some good outlet or (not used) returned products. This way I got my Klipsch RP-6000’s for less then €600. Even today they are still going above €1000 for the two.

  14. @T_Smooth_ on December 16, 2024 at 7:48 pm

Title should be Budget Audio For Home Theatre…such a short video and you didn’t include anything else for the "Home Theatre" besides just audio. And even the stuff you listed isn’t "budget" My 5.1 RCA surround sound was $80 from Walmart.

  15. @YoungBlaze on December 16, 2024 at 7:50 pm

What’s your thoughts on doing a projector set up for a hundred people but how do I figure out the sound should I go through HDMI EArc to create a Dolby sound… Or is it non-practical so instead go with two large powerful speakers stereo and to subwoofers… But the question is for this type of event should I use a mixer or a receiver, The projector I will be using is the horizon ultra

  16. @banzooiebooie on December 16, 2024 at 7:52 pm

"Sorry for ruining your perfect 1000 like counter" – now you have 1001 buut it is a palindrome so I hope that is comforting!

I just got the SR 494 onyx AV receiver and a sonny Bravia x90l tv with a Samsung sound bar q800 D. My challenge was and is that I am unable to output sound from my tv via the Av receiver to the soundbar. the connection I used was/IS connecting the HDMI cable via the arc port from the tv to the Av receiver arc port and finally connecting the sound bar to the bd/DVD port of the Av receiver using the HDMI cable. unfortunately still no sound, I have put the Av receiver aside as there is no luck even after switching the cords in all directions, is there a tutorial on how to connect or a guide? please I am a complete newbie to this.

sound bars suck and are clear rip off.

  19. @the_stixXx on December 16, 2024 at 7:54 pm

I had a set of 2-way DJ speaker from Highschool (Kicker subwoofers installed) and EV Amp hooked up to a 2 channel mixer (for my ancient Technique 1200’s) and even though it wasn’t 5.1 surround, the bass that it produced for movies and the acoustics of my basement movie setup was enough to really enjoy a movie. and FEEL the sound. I recently had a flood that destroyed my whole basement/kids room/media room/office and now I’m starting all over and all out of pocket because insurance isn’t covering anything. Depressing to say the least. I’ve been out of the game so long and I REALLY appreciate this video because it is giving me ideas and the knowledge I forgot I knew. I will be a frequent visitor of you page. You’re great! Thank you!

I bought an old 2006 6.2 Sony Muteki for $300. I believe it was not sold in the US but it provides a great experience for mid-size rooms, however, it’s a little aged for today’s standards

  21. @dr.deconbelandhiscustomshe1932 on December 16, 2024 at 7:56 pm

Man, you hit it on the head. There’s nothing wrong with used, I’ve got two older Harmon Kardons they have HDMI but I’m unsure of the spec so I run the optical from the HTPC straight to the receiver. I spent less than $200 for both of them and one came with an Earthquake sub. I’d love to know more about how HDMI receivers can affect input latency while gaming if you find some time to give an opinion and advice on what brand offers the best throughput I would appreciate it for sure.

My friend went all used for his home theater with Facebook marketplace and ended up with an awesome system for a quarter the price. Still sounds pretty much the same as all new in my opinion

  24. @MrBjorn6 on December 16, 2024 at 7:59 pm

I have went from AVR and speakers in 2002 to an Nakamichi shockwafe SSE ARC 9.2 4. 1000 watt soundbar in my basement. For $1,100. I was more than happy. That’s i purchased another one in my master bedroom in 2019.

In 2023 I heard about the Nakamichi Dragon at CES 2024. I pre-order it, Spent the $3500 unheard unseen and unreviewed. I had to wait 5 months to get it. I couldn’t be happier, i give it 99.95 out of 100.

HELLO, what projector do you recommend for my private cinema room, its a very dark space, no windows, there is no light interference, a proper cinema room? thanks

  27. @jesco2910 on December 16, 2024 at 8:03 pm

I got a 5.1 setup consisting of used old components: An Onkyo HT-R518 for 80€ and the Teufel Consono 35 Mk3 for 220€, it seems like this setup would have been about 700-800€ with the original prices, maybe even more, I paid 300, but goddamn it’s powerful
Every time my group of friends wants to watch a movie, it is clear from the start that we HAVE to watch it at my place

Pienso que debemos de tener un systems de home theater o sonido, de acuerdo a donde vivamos,si tienes una casa propia u puedes tener un siytema de mucho valor , pues compralo, pero esto de sonido va de acuerdo a lugar donde vives…

  32. @Kryojenix on December 16, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Buying 2nd hand is excellent advice. Less junk in landfill. Less incentive for manufacturers to make planned obsolescence and entry-level junk. More circular economy.
I got a 2nd hand medium level Yamaha 7.1 setup with large L+R front speakers which were a bit beat up. Later I replaced just those two speakers with new.

Can you use a receiver that has a max output of 100w with a speaker that has a RMS of 145w or would that damage the speaker?

  35. @PaulPaid on December 16, 2024 at 8:12 pm

What’s the best type of input for audio? I have optical but I’ve been looking for HDMI receivers. Not sure if it’s even a better quality or anything, I’m a car audio guy honestly

Hi Chris, I am a big fan of yours. ive been watching you channel for almost 5 years and I enjoy watching your home theater videos which gives me more idea and knowledge since I am a IT technician. I need advive as i have a Sony 5.1 home theater speaker system with toslink and a ARC HDMI, A Benq projector (TK850i), mediaplayers are Nvidia pro and Amazon fire stick. I need to know how to connect ARC HDMI form my media players to Sony 5.1 home theater system to get Dolby sound, is there any device available?

  38. @riteshtandon8701 on December 16, 2024 at 8:17 pm

You guys are getting a Klipsch 5.0 system with a 5.2 av receiver for freaky 600$????? Come on. It’s going to be atleast 3 times that in India.

  39. @TheNerdArmory on December 16, 2024 at 8:18 pm

You showed a Yamaha home theater pack there a few times and i happened to find a guy near me selling what looked like exactly that kit, at least the speakers were and it has a Yamaha RX-V377 with it for $125 in good condition. Figured it was a steal and way better than any sound bar we were affording for $200. My wifes just going to have to trust me on this lolll

Such great advice Chris. This is exactly how I started my home theatre set up over the years. And now fortunately have been able to fully upgrade to a proper complete home theatre with project and in wall wired speakers. But to start I bought everything second hand and it was all worth it.

My parents got a home that was an architects first project in the mid 90’s. There are 4 in ceiling speakers hard wired to an RCA jack port in the living room. Everything else in the house is over-built or of high quality. Is it worth looking for a compatible receiver or should they start from scratch? They would probably be happy with a soundbar, but it feels like a waste of potentially great speakers that are already installed.
