I consider this echo unit as my new go to for information center.https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxLy1PfxFCJyzaqAlLb_2_M-D-JIrWUQea I could pull up my calendar – to do list and even drop in on my external cameras, with little effort. I also have the privilege of seeing my family photos, and I might note the picture quality is amazing. I found a bracket that enables me to fold it flat underneath the cabinets or extend it out in front of the cabinets vertically or horizontally. The size is so much bigger than my existing Echo unit – and I consider this a complete home run for what I like and use in my kitchen. What I really like about this is that I was able to get it off my counter and a little higher than my base cabinet, please see the picture. It’s not in the way, but it’s not out of the way. With a swivel I attached the back able to spin it from one side of my kitchen to the other. The quality of the audio is very very impressive. I will be adding some speakers by way of old First generation echo (cylinder) units so my friend can have surround sound experience in the kitchen. Thanks for such a great product – it was by accident I stumbled across this on Amazon. I should also note that I did take out the extended warranty in case my expectations come to an abrupt end. But right now I’m crazy about it.

Hey, I have been watching you for a while and just subbed because I want to see what you do with your new home.

My home is 88 years old and has come a long way since I bought it. I plan to sell it as a smart home when I finish rehabbing it soon. Before this happens I want to add at least one dashboard.

I can relate to the excitement you had when you got a function to show up on your dashboard and your wife was like "oh, how exciting". I recently added a smart switch on my furnace power so I can turn it off while I wash my filters without having to go in the basement. I love that I get notifications on my watch if the furnace has no power or heat tape on my water meter has not come on when the outside temperature dips below 33 degrees. The water meter is in an unheated space and to move it will cost hundreds of dollars so as of now it is automatically controlled and I don’t have to worry if it will freeze and cost me more money to fix it. If I am curious about it when the outside temperature dips to 33 degrees, I just ask Alexa what the heat tape temperature is. Otherwise I get a push notification that the heat tape has come on right on my watch.

People who are on the outside do not understand that it is not just convenience, but necessity to be able to control so much that not only makes it easy on you to have smart devices. It saves your time and money to have the most efficient home. When I first got my home it cost $800 per month in energy during winter & now I spend 20% of similar homes in my area on energy. The value has increased by five times what I paid for it & have invested in to it. The fact that it is full on smart, will help sell it too ( I hope).

Aloha! Great and awesome video. Very knowledgeable to what I want to do for my home light situation. Love the dashboard on the tablet but I’m wondering if you can give me advice to HOW to make my current normal home light switch to digital like on the tablet??? You showed only a tablet plugged into a outlet. How would I convert my light switch to digital like how it controlled on the tablet. Thank you in advance.

I recently started doing my research on smart homes. And your videos are really interesting and engaging. Can’t stop watching.

I don’t know if you can help with this. I live in an apartment and I want to make it smart without removing or modifying any original things that comes with the apartment. E.g. switch, blind, and lights. I’ve been doing research on sensors to make my switch smart. But I’m kinda in the loop. I use Alexa echo 4th gen.. I’ll appreciate if you can give me a solution. Thanks

Has anyone used VR for eye therapy, and if so, what device and program is best?

I went to a private eye therapy place and they had a large touchscreen and I had to look at the center dot while the white background would hv other dots appear, I’d hv to tap them b4 they went away( like whack a mole) and it was great for my peripheral vision development!

I’m going to look at the price of a large touch screen and the price of V. R. Goggles along with how much each fame costs, to compare prices, but I think I need a script from an eye dr?
After watching this, I’m highly considering a large touchscreen. Ty!

There is no "sideload" in Android. All app sources no matter if it is an app repo or APK file on USB stick or downloaded via browser are equal.

What dashboard app you are using

  36. @Duncan_1971 on December 16, 2024 at 8:22 pm

I’m keen to set up something similar. I have the ability to Arm/Disarm the alarm from my dashboard and for that reason I’d like some security so that an intruder cannot do the same. I’d like to use facial recognition to login however does anybody know of a way to get it to recognise my face when the tablet is landscape? i.e. the camera sees my face as 90 degree rotated? I’m using a Samsung Tab S2 at the moment. Is that even possible?

  39. @SixtoLuna_art on December 16, 2024 at 8:24 pm

What setup do you recommend for Airbnb rentals where you don’t want anyone poking around the settings? I use Samsung smarthings and z-wave devices for sensors, etc. Also want to be able to have the video feed from my Dash to automatically display on the screen when someone rings the bell. Other functions to control lights, a Sonos player to play pre-defined music/playlists from Spotify, turn on z-wave devices around the home, etc. Thanks!

New to this smart system i am overwelmed i gotta do this step by step is there a a good place to learn about this ?

  48. @Weeem on December 16, 2024 at 8:31 pm

Tip: @05:15 I’d recommend connecting the charging station to a smart plug/socket.
On a 15 minute automation check if the tablet >80-90% full and switch off the charger.
Then (/15min) if the tablet is <30% turn it back on.
This will extend the life of your device and more importantly, prevent the risk of the lithium battery swelling (or worse) due to constant charging.

My laptop was on at work 24/7 during covid as I remoted into it from home.
The battery in it swole up like a fat poptart so bad that it distorted the keyboard. Had to remove it and get another battery before it exploded/caused a fire :/

  49. @FirstLastOne on December 16, 2024 at 8:31 pm

Your duplex electrical outlet in the lower right of the frame at 6:22 is mounted upside down. That’s not good because you’ll eventually weaken both a grounded plug and the outlet over time. Also some wires that have a ‘lay flat’ plug end will end up with the wire climbing the wall then looping over to fall towards the floor. You’re welcome!
